Tournament IX - Tinkers' Tournament

Today, at 18:01 server time, GM Stormcrow announced the start of a developer run tournament starting at 00:01 on the 1st of September. The tournament is a traditional king of the hill style one and is being used to test the tournament API key.

GM Stormcrow alluded to an update several times in GC over the past couple of days

This is the second server-wide tournament this year after Kodabear's Shine a Light on NF tournament though the last developer tournament was over two years ago, in April/May of 2014. The Tinkers' Tournament uses the same tournament squares as Kodabear's did.

The rewards for the tournament are clockwork units which come in 3 styles: Clockwork Ravager, Clockwork Knight and Clockwork Dervish. They are all extremely strong infantry units with attacks between 2000 and 3820. Winner will have the clockwork units placed in their capital at the end of the tournament.

In the 4 hours since the beginning of the tournament, VTX have taken the lead, amassing 14 hours and 42 minutes of time occupying one of the tournament squares already. 25 alliances have held a tournament square so far.

I plan on doing an article every day for the duration of the tournament though this may change after I begin college again. Hopefully, the other authors for the Telegraph will assist me with this. Please send combat reports which you feel are worthy of note to Eowan The Short. Alternatively, send me your own accounts of events in the tournament.

In the same update as the tournament and tournament API key, the developers have modified faction AI to increase aggression and prevent factions from attacking players with standings of -49 or larger.

A Change to the Rules

I have decided to change the rules around the classified ads page. From now on, bounties on live players may be placed on the page. However, we reserve the right to refuse to place an ad for a bounty without giving a reason why. Also, no ads may be placed on players with 4 or fewer towns.

The reason for the rule change is that a player came to me and asked to place a bounty on Biff on the ads page. They did not want to put the bounty on the forums for fear of getting a ban. After seeing Biff's comments in GC, I understood why they wanted to place the bounty and decided to allow it.

TUF under fire with a double siege op

AianNick's town of Freiburg and Kaven's town of just stolen both came under siege at exactly 4 am this morning. OleBlacklord is sieging AianNick's town whilst What The DEUCE? is sieging Kaven.

The siege on Freiburg was broken around 16:45 by ThorOdin, AianNick's alt, taking out over 200k SIN troops in a single hit.

Agalloch seems confident that the siege on Kaven's town will be broken shortly as well.

When I reached out to Saffron in GC, she declined to comment on the sieges.

TUF is now in confederation with EE, indicating that they are likely to cooperate with sieges in the future.

A siege by He-man on one of Janadorf's towns was almost broken by Walnut though due to a mistake, Walnut 'sent cav to wrong sq so siege force survived and captured'.

UPDATE: What The DEUCE?'s siege on Kaven was successful. The city fell at 10:12 on the 28th.

SIN declares war on EE

SIN has declared war on EE after comments made by Sterling in GC. In a heated discussion involving SIN members Duran, Stukahh and Fiona, Sterling said that SIN were 'pathetic' and that they were not relevant. War was declared at 04:44 server time. A chat log of the discussion can be found here: EE/SIN chat log

When asked about the declaration on SIN, Stukahh refused to comment. HATHALDIR has not yet given a statement to the telegraph.

SIN is already at war with TUF who have recently ended their wars with RE and YARR! as the Illyriad Times reported on the 14th of August. An anonymous TUF official refused to comment on whether TUF and EE would collaborate though TUF have offered EE an NAP.

According to the Herald Stats Page, Lordziggy of EE is already coming under attack by SIN.

Author's note: I have started writing in the Telegraph again as I have regained my enthusiasm for writing. I would like to dispel any rumours that my hiatus has anything to do with GATE/SIN or Illyriad Bonds. Hopefully, this time I will stick at it a bit longer.
